A GP surgery in Sutton has a new ECG heart monitor to quickly detect problems for patients thanks to fund raising in the village.

The total cost of the vital piece of equipment (£2,694) has been met by general fund raising and through generous support from various local charities and voluntary organisations.

Rosemary Trollope, patient participation group chairman, said: “We are very grateful to all those people in the village who have supported our efforts.

“We are a very small group of volunteers and will always welcome more help and fund raising ideas.”

A surgery spokesman said: “Priors Field Surgery would like to say a huge thank you, not only to the PPG members for their tireless work in organising events to raise funds for the new ECG machine, but to our wonderful patients who kindly donated.

“With the money raised we have been lucky enough to purchase a state of the art ECG machine allowing us to clearly identify patient problems quickly and easily.

“We were overwhelmed by the amount of support received in such a short time and hitting the target of £2,000.

“To know that this support has continued and the donations keep coming in means that additional equipment can be purchased for the comfort and care of our patients.

“Again from all at Priors Field Surgery, thank you.”

In 2016 the PPG set themselves a target of £2,000 and this was soon exceeded.

Now the committee plans to raise additional funds to buy three modern examination couches for the surgery.
