ON Sunday, Edwin Palmer and his son Julian organised a vintage vehicle road run from their farm in Coveney, in aid of Liam Fairhurst's CLIC Sargent fund. More than 60 vintage tractors and cars met at Manor Farm and then took a 40-mile round trip passing through Haddenham, Earith, Bluntisham, Needingworth., St Ives, Pidley, Somersham, Chatteris, Sutton, Witcham and back to Coveney.
Mr Palmer took part in the drive with his 45-year-old tractor, a Fordson Super Major. He said: "My grandson is the same age as Liam and the family wanted to help Liam raise some money. The day was a huge success, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we raised £2,100. Lloyds TSB of Ely has also agreed to donate a further £500 to CLIC Sargent. We want to thank all of those who took part.
