THE nominations and then the votes poured into the Ely Standard office for the Pet of the Year 2008, staged earlier this month.
In first place was Dolly (004) the Chihuahua, second is Buffy (017) the guinea pig. In joint third place, with an equal number of votes is Scratch (018) the rabbit and Blue (062) the Border Collie.
Dolly’s owner, Tina Lemon, will receive £50-worth of pet vouchers from Alan’s Ark and a framed photograph of Dolly, taken by our photographer Helen Drake. Mrs Lemon said: “I am very pleased that Dolly won and I was surprised, considering the number of entrants.”
The runners-up will receive framed photographs of their pets.
We had a fantastic response to the competition this year. Our thanks go to everyone who entered everyone who voted and we hope our readers enjoyed looking at all the pets as much as we did.
