PUPILS at Littleport Community Primary School were treated to a spectacular fly-past from the Red Arrows as they enjoyed a celebration ceremony the of the school on Thursday.

Hundreds of pupils, parents and teachers waited eagerly in the playground for the arrival of the famous jet display team and they didn’t disappoint as they roared over the school to cheers and claps from onlookers.

The appearance of the jet plans formed part of a day long series of events to formally celebrate the opening and blessing of the village school. There were music and activities for pupils from all year groups and parents were invited to tour the school and enjoy a picnic on the school field as they waited for the Red Arrows.

Local author Jean Adamson then topped off the day by cutting the ribbon and commemorative cake after local reverend Rosemary Maskell formally blessed the school.

Speaking at the ceremony headteacher Lesley Plant, said: “I would like to thank staff and volunteers at the school for all their hard work organising a fantastic day.”
