FOLK music lovers from across the country flocked to Ely at the weekend to enjoy the return of the annual Folk Festival.

Now in its 24th year, the festival draws many of the biggest names on the folk scene and this year featured sets from Adrian Nation, Dog Roses and Something Nasty in the Woodshed among more than 20 other acts.

The hugely popular festival, which featured dozens of trade stands, workshops and displays, took place at the Ely Outdoor Sports Association site on Downham Road with more than 1,000 people turning up to enjoy the broad range of live acts.

Festival marketing manager Finula Lennon, told the Ely Standard: "We have had a really positive response from all the people we have got in touch with about the event, and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

"I think the highlight for me was Edward II who had about 1000 standing and singing in unison which was absolutely great."

The festival, which prides itself on being one of the best priced festivals in the country, celebrates its 25th anniversary next year and organisers are already looking at making it the biggest and best yet.
