HERE are the winners of the Ely Standard Sports Awards for 2009. They represent the sporting elite of East Cambridgeshire and were recognised at a star-studded event at the City of Ely Community College on Thursday night.

HERE are the winners of the Ely Standard Sports Awards for 2009. They represent the sporting elite of East Cambridgeshire and were recognised at a star-studded event at the City of Ely Community College on Thursday night.

Ely Standard editor Debbie Davies said: “It was a privilege to be in the same room as our winners and nominees, all of whom, dedicate their lives to competing in or supporting other to take part in sport.

“I would like to thank our main sponsor, Cambridgeshire County Council and also the individual sponsors, Price Bailey, Donarbon, Petrou Brothers, Star Radio, the Shoe Tree, the Atrium Club, East Cambs Sport and N & C Glass.

Star Radio programme controller Mark Peters was unable to attend and compere the event as he was unwell and I would like to take this opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery and also to thank Ryan Taylor (mid-morning presenter) who stood in at the last moment and did a fantastic job.
