AN Ely woman in her 60s who took up running just two and a half years ago is to run the London Marathon to help some of the world's most vulnerable children.
Valerie Allen, 62, is being sponsored for the marathon, which takes place on April 22. Mrs Allen, who is assistant beaver leader with the 1st Ely Scout Group, is hoping to raise at least £2,000 for Children in Crisis, a small charity that helps children both in this country and abroad.
