A splash of colour came to Littleport over the bank holiday weekend thanks to the hard work of some creative young people in a street art project.
The old public convenience on the High Street, now used as a storage unit, was transformed into a modern work of art, and a space to be proud of, said organisers.
Joanne Coe, The Port youth club organiser, said: “Wow what a day it’s been. I am just so proud of ThePort kids.
“They helped out with the Street Art guys, Andy, Fred and Nathan in the production of the fantastic murals that have certainly brightened up the disused toilet and made the patch of land it stands on an environmentally friendly area.”
Sergeant Phil Priestley said: “We brought some really talented artists to Littleport from Peterborough who showed the kids how to paint.
“You know we have good kids. They are community spirited children who want to make a positive contribution to their village, and we have evidence of that because so many of them who have been a part of this project have turned out today.”
Six months of planning meetings with the youngsters of Littleport, the Parish Council, East Cambs District Council, the Community Safety Partnership and local police, culminated on Saturday 26 in an all-day event.
PC Priestley said he believed the space will become noted as an area of local beauty of which the Littleport community could be proud.
