THOUSANDS of homes in Ely were left without water this afternoon following a pump failure.
Anglian Water announced shortly after 2pm that the water supply to most of the city had been cut off, with others experiencing low pressure.
The problem was fixed by about 2.45pm, though low pressure remained a problem for many.
A spokesman said: “The burst water main which affected customers in Ely and surrounding areas has now been repaired.
If you are still experiencing no water or low water pressure, please call 0800 145145 to speak to an advisor. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this interruption to your service.”
