A BODY was discovered floating in the River Great Ouse in Ely on Wednesday morning.
The body, which officers confirmed was that of a 57-year-old man, was discovered by rowers at about 7.45am while they were out on the river.
Police dive teams were quickly at the scene and the body was recovered by 9.30am. The nearby marina and access to the river were cordoned off by officers while forensic teams carried out investigations.
Officers confirmed on Wednesday evening that they were not treating the death as suspicious and that the family of the man, thought to be from Suffolk, had been informed.
He is expected to be formally identified within the next 48 hours.
A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson confirmed that the family of the man had reported him missing to Suffolk police in the early hours of the morning.
