Two people from Wilburton have been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence following the death of a seven-year-old girl at a funfair.

Summer Grant, from Norwich, suffered serious injuries while on a bouncy castle in Harlow Town Park on March 26 2016. She died in hospital a few hours later.

Shelby Thurston, 25, and William Thurston, 28, both fairground employees, of Whitecross Road, were arrested in connection with the investigation.

Today (Thursday) they were charged with manslaughter by gross negligence and also failure to discharge a general health and safety duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act. They are due to appear before magistrates at Chelmsford on July 19.

Detectives investigating the incident want to trace a witness who was near the rides when it happened. He was described as a young black man, aged in his teens.
