TRAVELLERS in East Cambridgeshire need up to 35 new pitches, according to a new report published by the East of England Regional Assembly.

The figure, which is the third highest in Cambridgeshire, will supplement the 74 authorised and two unauthorised pitches already in existence in East Cambridgeshire.

If implemented, the plan could potentially increase East Cambridgeshire's travellers' sites by more than 40 per-cent by 2011.

Concerns have been raised, butECDC spokesperson, Tony Taylorson, said, "We speak to the public about any applications for new travellers' sites.
