A level crossing failure caused chaos for rush hour commuters this morning.
The A1123 Newmarket Road, in Stretham, was blocked in both directions between Read Street and Way Lane because of a failure at a level crossing.
There are long queues of traffic in both directions after a barrier went down at 7.10am and remained closed for half-an-hour, despite no trains passing through.
The British Transport Police and Network Rail were called and the barrier was restored to working order by 7.45am.
