ELY'S visitors receive some of the best customer service in England, according to a national survey.
Staff at the city's tourism office at Oliver Cromwell House have been judged the third best in England by Visit Britain.
Mystery shoppers carried out the survey earlier this year, assessing staff on a number of areas and evaluated responses made to inquiries by telephone and e-mail.
The team scored 88 out of 100, the third highest score in the country and significantly above the national average of 62.
Darren Dixon, East Cambridgeshire District Council's cultural services team leader, said: "This is a remarkable achievement by our tourism staff at Oliver Cromwell House.
"There are more than 450 Tourist Information Services across England, many in major cities with significant tourist attractions, so to rank above them is a big success and is all down to the hard work of staff.
