Persecution of religious practitioners is not something we associate with Ely, but the city's museum played host to a special exhibition in December to highlight the torture of Chinese Falun Gong adherents.

Truth Compassion and Forbearance was curated by Chinese artist Kunlun Zhang, who was himself tortured by the Chinese Communist Party in its effort to 'eradicate' Falun Gong, a meditative religion.
