Torrential rain and thunderstorms overnight have caused a headache for motorists in Ely this morning.
The railway underpass, in Station Road, Ely, is susceptible to flooding and heavy downpours late on Sunday night and into Monday morning have left it submerged.
According to measurements taken at weather stations in Ely, there was as much as 29mm of rain – more than an inch – in just a few hours.
Traffic is being diverted over the level crossing while some have attempted to traverse the flood waters. Traffic is slow moving in both directions.
