AN Ely tearoom has received a national award of excellence after just two years in business.
Peacocks Tearoom in Waterside, run by partners George Peacock and Rachel Lemkov, has been given an Award of Excellence in this year's Top Tea Awards.
"I'm delighted we've done so well," Miss Lemkov said.
"We want it to be somewhere friendly and individual for people who are tired of boring coffee bars that all look the same."
Peacocks serves more than 50 varieties of teas as well as home-made cakes and meals.
The UK Tea Council send out mystery inspectors each year to secretly visit venues across the UK to find the best "afternoon tea experience". Each is judged on criteria ranging from decor and crockery to the variety of teas available.
INFO: Peacocks can be found at 65 Waterside, Ely. For more information, contact 01353 661100.
