ELY mayor John Ison presented Steeplegate Tea Rooms in High Street with the winning trophy for this year's Ely in Bloom shop window display competition.

The competition was part of Ely's bid in this year's Anglia in Bloom, and Steeplegate narrowly beat The Little Shop in High Street Passage to first place.

Cllr Ison said: "As always, the Steeplegate staff are to be congratulated on their wonderful support for the city.

"The Anglia in Bloom judges were impressed by their window display and by the effort made by many other shops and businesses to decorate their premises with flowers."

Cllr Ison said he hopes the effort put in be reflected in the Anglia in Bloom judges' decision next month.
