The chief executive of high-street retailer Timpson is to share his expertise in prison reform at the annual Cambridgeshire-based Ormiston Families lecture next month.
James Timpson, who is chair of the Prison Reform Trust and former chair to the Employers Forum for Reducing Reoffending, will host the evening at the Queen’s building at Emmanuel College, Cambridge on March 8.
Mr Timpson received an OBE from the Queen in 2012 for services to training and employment for disadvantaged people and is the CEO of Timpson, which recruits 10 per cent of its 5,200 employees directly from prison.
Ormiston Families’ Unite Programme works with offenders and their families across the region’s prisons and within the community to maintain positive family ties where appropriate. The charity provides children’s visits, parenting courses, family liaison and community outreach.
All proceeds from the lecture will go towards supporting Ormiston Families’ work in East Anglia.
