AN Ely teacher became so frustrated with each clock in her school showing a different time that she bought super-accurate radio-controlled clocks for every room.
It is a tradition for departing staff to present Spring Meadow Infant School with a gift, and Ruth Sindall knew what she would give the school long before her retirement at the end of the last term.
"I've been at the school for 18 years and I've worked in just about every classroom," said Mrs Sindall, 60.
"None of the clocks have ever told the same time and so I thought I'd do something about it."
Mrs Sindall's 26 years in teaching in the district were recognised by staff and governors at the school at her retirement party, where she was presented with a magnificent glass bowl, in exchange for the 16 radio-controlled clocks for each classroom and office.
The clocks operate through a central transmitter, which guarantees accuracy by sending out regular signals to each of the new clocks.
Mrs Sindall said she intends to spend her retirement winding down and relaxing.
