RAIDERS wearing Balaclavas escaped with thousands of pounds worth of antique jewellery after a midnight break-in at Ely.
They smashed their way through the front door at Griffin Antiques in Forehill and grabbed silver and gold valuables from a display counter.
Owner Elaine Griffin-Singh fears the robbers may have staked out the shop the week before the raid early on Monday morning.
Now she is scouring photos held by Ely Police in the hope that she may recognise the raiders.
Residents living in the flat above the shop saw two men dressed in black, wearing balaclavas and hats over the top.
They watched them escape along Three Cups Walk and across Cherry Hill park and over the fields.

Mrs Griffin-Singh said: "The alarm went off and the residents upstairs banged on the floor and walls. Quite a few people saw the men running away.
"They had obviously been into the shop and seen where everything was displayed. They made straight for the jewellery counter, grabbed what they wanted and were out within minutes. They must have staked out the shop the week before.
"Personally I think they have taken the jewellery because it is perceived as the easiest to sell."
The thieves escaped with a haul worth around £5,000 including a collection of bar brooches, a pair of silver grape scissors, an Edwardian silver rattle in the shape of a teddy bear and a Victorian enamel turquoise patch box.
They also grabbed gold brooches including two set with garnets, one in the shape of a coiled snake.
