Thieves attempt to break in to cash machine at Ely Railway Station using a welder

Thieves tried to steal a cash machine from Ely Railway Station using a welder during the early hours of this morning.
Cambridgeshire Police were called to attend the scene at 5am after the fire service reported thieves attempted to weld an ATM open.
The incident is now being handled by British Transport Police.
A BTP spokesman said: ““We were called to Ely station shortly after 5am on Thursday, 21 January to reports of a break-in.
“Colleagues from Cambridgeshire Constabulary also attended and found the station had been accessed and an attempt made to break in to a cash machine.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing at this time.”
