A FUNKY House Anthems CD, perfume, and two bottles of tanning lotion for his mum, were the items stolen by troubled local man Tony Caller, Ely Magistrate's Court heard last Tuesday.

Caller, 31, who lives in a hostel on Granby Street, Littleport, was caught wandering the streets of Ely at 4am on October 30 last year, by the manager of Two Ticks watch and jewellery shop in High Street Passage. The manager had been called by his burglar alarm service after Caller smashed in the front window with bricks, the court heard.

Police arrested Caller close to Tanning World, in Chequer Lane, and he was found to have two bottles of tanning lotion in his pocket. When interviewed by officers, he said someone else had broken the window and that he had picked up the lotion and was going to give it to his mother, prosecutor Angela Sassoli told the court.

Forensic scientists later found Caller's blood at the scene.
