Vikki Aldridge and Muriel Norton from Ely have been giving their waste a second chance by recycling and now they will enjoy a romantic dinner with their loved ones.
To celebrate the Valentine's edition of Recycling Bin-Go, Cambridgeshire's recycling team visited Ely on Saturday to give away cards and reusable shopping bags and asked residents to write a limerick about their recycling habits.
Victor Perez, waste campaigns officer for Cambridgeshire County Council, said: "Residents in Ely showed how serious they take recycling, and with some humour, expressed why and how
they recycle. We were delighted with the
response to the competition as all the entries we received were full of creativity.

"I would like now to encourage residents to put their creativity to work and reuse and recycle more and more often. We have been doing really well over the last year, recycling more than 45 per cent of our waste, but with landfill tax increasing every year and stricter regulation, there's still a long way to go."
INFO: Cambridgeshire Waste Partnership's Recycling Bin-Go was launched last October at four household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in Fenland and East Cambridgeshire to reward keen recyclers and increase the amount of waste that is sent for recycling.
Funding for Recycling Bin-Go comes from the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. For more information about Bin-Go, waste reduction and recycling, visit www.recap.co.uk or call on 0845 045 5207.
