YOUNGSTERS at Ely's St Mary's School are the picture of health. The school has just been awarded National Healthy Schools status under a Government initiative designed to improve the health of schoolchildren.
Pupils and the school's Healthy School Working Party, which comprised teachers, parents, governors and the school nurse, worked together to achieve the award.
Home-cooked lunches helped teach children about healthy eating and they learnt about the importance of exercise and taking care of their bodies. The school also launched a Home-School Partnership book to make sure everyone is involved with promoting healthy lifestyles.
