School children have given a taste of life in Biblical times at a special exhibition at Littleport’s Vine Community Church.

The interactive exhibition about the life of Jesus called the ‘One Way Experience’ allowed the children and other members of the public to walk through and experience what it was like to live in the time of Jesus.

It was called the One Way Experience as Jesus himself said: “I am the way, the truth & the life.”

The experience encourages the use of the senses, listening to the sounds in the manger at Bethlehem, the noise in the carpenter’s workshop, the sounds and smells at the sea of Galillee when Jesus chose his disciples.

Looking and listening to some of the miracles that Jesus performed and culminating with the scenes from Palm Sunday, the cross and the resurrection.

The exhibition opened on Sunday (18) and closed on Saturday (24) at the church in Globe Lane.

Many schools from the area visited over the week with over 500 children in total taking in the exhibition.

The experience was designed to fit in with the RE curriculum and can be used as such with worksheets so children can learn while enjoying the exhibition.

A group of volunteers from the Vine Community Church and other churches in the village are on hand to help everyone enjoy their visit

For the various school visits The Vine Community Church provided a coach from Greys of Ely to transport pupils to and from the event.

There is still time for others to visit the Experience, It is open this evening (Friday) from 6pm to 8pm and the tomorrow 10am to 4pm and everyone is welcome. Thechurch has full disabled access and the Experience is wheelchair friendly.

John Cherrie from the Vine said: “Today there is a generation growing up in the UK who have never heard about Jesus and this experience gives everyone the opportunity to see and understand more about the impact Jesus had while here on earth and the relevance for us in the society that we live in more than 2000 years after these events.”
