Rehearsals for Viva Youth Theatre's latest production 'Evita' are now well under way.
Advance ticket sales are said to be high and the producers are urging people to book soon.
Viva’s artistic director and director of ‘Evita’ Dan Schumann said: “Evita is a classic, epic and iconic musical full of great characters, and big dance routines.
“There are also familiar songs such as Oh What a Circus, Another Suitcase, Another Hall and Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.
“Our production has a cast of over 40 local young people and is full of beautiful singing, impressive dancing and stunning sets and costumes.
“Our previous two productions (Phantom of the Opera and Avenue Q) completely sold out, so we don’t want anyone left disappointed this year.”
Evita will run from March 8-12 at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee at The Brook in Soham.
Evita is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It concentrates on the life of leader Eva, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. The story follows Evita’s early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death.
The musical began as a rock opera concept album released in 1976. Its success led to productions in London’s West End in 1978, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and on Broadway a year later, where it was the first British musical to receive the Tony Award for Best Musical.
Tickets are now on sale, priced at £12 and are available from the Viva Centre on Churchgate Street in Soham; people can either call in or phone Hetti on 01353 722228.
