TV quiz master Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett wowed more than 100 punters who turned up to the re-opening of The Minster pub in Ely.

The star of ITV’s The Chaser took on all comers at a special ‘Beat The Beast’ quiz night held to celebrate the refurbishment of the historic pub, in Minster Place, on Thursday.

There were plenty of top prizes on offer including a new television, digital camera and iPods and more than 100 people packed in to take part.

Manager Andy Pipe said: “It was a brilliant evening. Mark was fantastic, he is absolutely enormous and towered over all over the staff!

“We had so many people show an interest in the event and it went very well.”
