TWO teenagers attacked a man outside the Glass House night spot in Ely after a scuffle inside the venue.

CCTV footage recorded the incident, during which Leroy Meads kicked the man as he lay on the ground, and Joshua Hancock punched their victim during the fracas.

Appearing before Ely magistrates on Thursday, 19-year-old Meads, of Holly Close, Littleport; and Hancock, 19, of Main Street, Witchford both admitted affray. They were ordered to perform 150 hours of unpaid work and pay 35 costs.

When a scuffle broke out inside the club, punches were thrown, and there was some "pushing and shoving," explained prosecutor Mika Pine.

"Meads had a tooth chipped, and the argument moved outside," she said. "Meads and Hancock continued the altercation, and as a result, Darren Pinder was thrown to the ground and set upon by these two defendants."

"It is not particularly clear what happened," said Nick Barnes, mitigating. "Both my clients were drunk. Another group of males had challenged them, Hancock was punched in the face and fell to the floor, and after a supervisor intervened, they were pushed outside.

Presiding magistrate Bryant Watson told the teenagers: "This was another drink related crime out on the streets of Ely, something we want to prevent. The people of Ely expect you to behave as responsible adults.
