ANGRY teenager Danny Stone-Parker tried to bite a police officer who had arrested him for getting involved in a fracas in an Ely car park.

As police arrived to deal with the incident, 18-year-old Stone-Parker was foaming at the mouth, and when placed in a police car he was aggressive and lashed out.

"He started to thump the head rest of the vehicle, and lashed out with his arms and legs," prosecutor Laura Mardell told city magistrates.

"He was warned about his behaviour, but he continued. The officer was concerned he would be assaulted, so arrested Stone-Parker and placed him in handcuffs."

But soon afterwards Stone-Parker was out of the car and trying to make his way towards a group of people, said Miss Mardell.

"The officer took him to the floor, and while on the floor, Stone-Parker tied to bite him, placing his teeth around his arm.

"Other officers and the defendant's family intervened, and tried to calm the situation, and the defendant was taken to the police station."

Stone-Parker, of Clayway, Ely, admitted using threatening behaviour towards PC Jamie Brown during the incident at the Paradise Sports Centre car park on October 19.

Mitigating, solicitor Adam Haselhurst said Stone-Parker had been angry, because a teenage girl he believed to be pregnant had been punched in the stomach by a male.

"He was understandably upset and angry," said Mr Haselhurst. "He accepts he tried to get to that male, but no physical confrontation took place.

"He does accept attempting to bite the police officer. He accepts he was out of order and is clearly remorseful."

Sentencing was adjourned until November 20 for a report to be prepared by the probation service. Presiding magistrate Mary Rone told Stone-Parker: "This could have erupted into a serious situation.
