POLICE have charged a 17-year-old with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm following a triple stabbing in the city in July.

The teenager, from London, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

The charges relate to an incident which took place on Market Street in the early hours of July 10 in which four people were injured, two of whom suffered stab wounds and required hospital treatment.

A second teenager arrested by the police following the incident was released without charge. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said the 17-year-old will appear at Ely Magistrates’ Court on December 9 to answer the charges.
