A TEENAGER has been charged with failing to leave Ely Market Place at the direction of a police officer.
It is alleged that 18-year-old Patrick Heatwole was asked to leave the area on November 21, because an officer in uniform believed that his presence was likely to cause or contribute to alcohol related crime or disorder.
It is alleged that under the terms of the Violent Crime Reduction Act, the officer required Heatwole to leave the Market Place for 12 hours, believing that his removal was necessary for the purpose of removing or reducing the likelihood of there being crime or disorder in the locality.
Heatwole, of Two Acres Caravan Park, Little Thetford, failed to attend a hearing at Ely courthouse on Thursday, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
