TEENAGER Jamie Linney swore at a police officer who released his dog into a group causing trouble outside Ely's Club Zest night-club.

Linney, 19, who had been drinking in the city's pubs, apologised to the court for his behaviour but claimed he has a fear of dogs.

The police dog handler was called to Fore Hill at 2.15am on Saturday, February 11, after a CCTV camera showed a disorderly group outside the night-club.

He tried to disperse the group and Linney, of Windmill Close, Ely, told him: "F*** off. I'm not f***ing moving."

The group refused to leave the area and the officer released his dog from the van.

Again Linney swore at the officer and, despite several warnings, refused to leave.

He was then arrested and on Tuesday, Linney admitted threatening behaviour when he appeared before Ely Magistrates.

The court heard that labourer Linney had previous convictions including one for actual bodily harm in Ely's West End in 2004 when he kicked his victim, knocking out his teeth.

Linney told the court: "I'm sorry but I have got a fear of dogs and he got close to me with the dog."

Chairman of the magistrates Ian Kerr told him: "This is getting worse and worse. Clearly if you come back to court for a similar offence the court will not be so lenient.

"You have to get your drinking under control."

Linney was fined £300 and ordered to pay £50 costs.
