ELY'S French market returns later this month to offer a huge range of continental goods for three days.

The Marche de France team of French traders will be bringing a full-scale market to Ely Market Place from Friday 16 to Sunday 18.

The centrepiece of the market will be a magnificent cheese lorry with a wide range from both Normandy and other regions.

There will also be a wide range of charcuterie, including sausages and salami and a bread stall, with a variety of breads baked on site.

A stall from Normandy will offer three types of cider alongside real apple juice and calvados and pommeau - alcoholic drinks made from Normandy apples.

Other treats to tempt the taste buds include olives, wine from the Loire valley and Bordeaux, smoked ham, calvados saucissons, pate normand, sweets, honey, pure butter home-made biscuits, duck and goose products, and of course, plenty of garlic.

Visitors with a sweet tooth, can sample jams and home-made fondant cakes, as well as fresh pralines.

As well as food and drink, there will be Marseille soap, lavender and basketwork.

Organised in partnership with East Cambridgeshire District Council, the market is expected to attract visitors from across the district.

INFO: The market will be held on the Market Place, and along Dolphin Lane and High Street, between 9am and 5pm (4.30pm on Sunday).
