Crazy wigs, colourful dyes and even a couple of cupcakes adorned the heads of Downham Feoffees School pupils as they did their best to showcase the worst hairstyles – all in the name of charity.

Pupils from Yr 4, 5 and 6 showed off their hair-raising styles to raise over £200 for Great Ormond Street Hospital this morning.

Class teacher Tom Russell praised the school’s pupils following their impressive fund-raising tally, saying: “All the children really came together to raise money for a great cause.

“There were some really fantastic wigs and colourful hair dye on show – someone even had cupcakes in their hair!”

The bad hair day is the school’s first of a series of efforts to raise money for the charity, which provides care to hundreds of children every day.
