A crowd of nearly 500 turned up, despite the chilly weather, to support Sutton's annual Picnic in the Park on Saturday.
With many already with their picnics in place, the show opened with local singer songwriter ‘Fingerpaint’ playing an acoustic set of self-penned and popular songs before Jacen Bruce rocked the stage with his mix of classic songs from the 50s and 60s.
Talented duo ‘The Caverners’ then took to the stage with an excellent mix of Beatles hits as well as other songs from the era.
Acoustic Duo, ‘Elements’ then kept the eager crowd warmed up before the Queen Bee’s Blues Band closed the night with a superb performance.
The climax of Sutton’s event is always its fantastic firework display and this years did not disappoint. The sky was lit with a brilliantly choreographed performance and everyone left with smiles on their faces.
Party goers were also treated to a range of food and drink, a barbecue provided by Sutton Feast, a hog roast from 1st Sutton Scouts and tea and cakes from St Andrew’s Church which summed up beautifully the all-encompassing community spirit that was evident throughout.
A spokesman from organisers, Sutton Feast, said: “We are delighted that so many people from our village came along and had a great time. The music was amazing and the fireworks sent everyone home happy. We are already making plans for next year’s event and are looking forward to it. We would also like to thank all our sponsors and helpers without whom the event would not be possible.”
