The September meeting of the club started on a sombre note when the chairman and show secretary announced that the Annual Village Show had been declining over the past few years with fewer people entering and attending. A small band of helpers has kept it running and the committee thought it better to go out on a high rather than struggle along. The final decision will be made at the AGM in January; if anyone would like to take it on, perhaps in a different format, please contact us and we will be willing to help.

On a lighter side, our demonstrators for the evening were Thea (doing the potting) and Maureen (the running commentary), while planting baskets, pots and troughs with bulbs, pansies, cyclamen and shrubs, all of which went into the excellent raffle. They were thanked by our chairman.

The next meeting is at 7:45pm in the Brooklands Centre, Sutton on Wednesday, October 11, when the Cox Brothers will be back by popular demand with another visual/audio show.
