HAPPY New Year to all. Hopefully you have recycled your old cards and Christmas trees. Please take empty bottles and cans to the bottle bank at the bottom of Pound Lane as the parish council gets credits to use in the village for this service.
New committee member, Alan Newnum, has started to arrange field trip to local sites; the first was to Lakenheath Reserve on January 20. The tour revealed the progress made in the creation of a large reedbed to encourage bitterns to nest there. Details of other trips will be in our newsletter, and at Harnwells Butchers and on the noticeboard outside Sphere. We also enjoyed the talk given by Liz Hawkins on wildlife in Antarctica.
Our next talk takes place next Thursday, at 8pm at the Pavilion. Hushwings Productions will give two presentations 'at home in the countryside' and 'a changing world'.
Stankers Pond had had a recent makeover, the bank has been levelled to make access easier at our annual pond dipping session in feast week and Alan Revill has renewed the silt trap. Peter Saunders is still making nesting boxes, but needs more wood (old floorboards are good) and nails. Contact Peter on 01353 778533.
