Ely Hero Ruth Marley has turned her talent to help fellow award winners by creating superhero costumes out of recycled materials.
The 44-year-old, who runs the Re-Imagination recycling unit at Witchford, decided to create outfits out of recycled materials for the youngsters who won The Ely Hero Awards Child of Achievement category.
The artistic businesswoman - who won the most sought after gong of Ely Hero at the event last month - said she was “touched by the stories” of the children.
Kiera Haynes, Alfie McCreadie and Jay Davison were all joint winners of the inspirational award.
Pictures posted on social media show Alfie and Jay proudly modelling their costumes which came specially wrapped from Ruth alongside an encouraging card.
The team at Ely Heroes wrote: “This is fantastic! So wonderful to see the continued impact of The Ely Hero Award in our community.
“Ruth Marley at the Re-Imagine Resource Centre, and winner of The Ely Hero Award works so hard in our community, selflessly helping others.
“This is one happy #superhero Jay Davidson, winner of Child of Achievement Award sponsored by Crown Garage Honda.
“Jay models his new costume made by Ruth, who has been so touched by the stories of the children that she has made costumes for them from #recycled materials. We just love it!”
Last week, Cambridgeshire Lord Lieutenant Julie Spence visited Ruth’s centre to see some of the work she does.
She tweeted: “I visited @elyheroes overall winner Ruth at her Aladdin’s cave, Re imagine at Witchford Recycling Centre, busy with people getting materials -ex business waste - to help fund raising and the feeding the homeless in #Cambridgeshire charity collected cups and t-shirts.”
Meanwhile, Smiliest Server award winner Javier Serrano-Gomez celebrated his achievement by holding a dinner party at his restaurant The Habis in Littleport.
He tweeted a picture enjoying the cuisine and having a rare break from the kitchen.
