The historic Grange in Church Lane was the setting for the annual strawberry and cream tea and garden fete in aid of St Peter’s Church, Wilburton.
Organisers had been busy on Saturday morning keeping their fingers crossed as heavy rain looked at one time to threaten the summer fete.
However by 2.30pm as the gates opened, the sun came out and organisers reported a fantastic afternoon with traditional games, including splat the rat and bowling for a pig joining skittles and a golf ball challenge to keep villagers amused.
Highlight, of course, were the strawberry teas including home made scones made a team of eager villagers.
The church hopes to announce this weekend the proceeds of their annual fete.
Our ‘photographer’ for the occasion was Joy Prime who took these photos- and others on our Ely Standard website.
