STUDENTS from Witchford Village College are celebrating their call-up for the British national roller hockey team. Steph Collier and Callum Thoday who both play for Ely Roller Hockey will be attending a training camp later this year in Portugal.

Steph has been playing the sport for six years since she was eight. She got started by going fun skating but got noticed and invited to train with the national squad. After attending the training camp later in the year she hopes to go on to represent England in future international matches and is considering a professional career in roller hockey.

Carlos Ameral, the British national team coach is hoping to raise the profile of roller hockey and is currently working on getting the sport introduced to schools in England. Steph currently trains every Wednesday and Saturday at the Paradise Centre in Ely where any young people are welcome to come and try the sport.
