Steve Crook from Ellgia Recycling is one of the speakers at Ely Business Awards 2016's networking event

Steve Crook one of the big winners in the Ely Business Awards 2015 will be a speaker at a networking event open to anyone interested in entering this years awards.
In 2015 Steve and his company won three awards: Medium Business of the Year, Customer Service Award, Business Person of the Year and Business of the Year.
Steve is the founder and managing director of Ellgia Recycling. Having cut his teeth in the waste management industry over 30 years ago.
In 2011, Steve spotted an opportunity to transform the industry and developed the use of innovative technology, creating solutions that were efficient, measurable, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly.
Stuck for a name for the new company, he combined the names of his two daughters, Ella and Georgia, and Ellgia Recycling was born.
Steve has successfully grown the business from nothing to achieving a turnover of £18 million in just three and a half years.
Headquartered in Ely, Ellgia Recycling provides waste management solutions for businesses in the East of England and, more recently, across Lincolnshire, Humberside and East Yorkshire.
Steve’s current role involves spending time across all three sites, ensuring a smooth transition for businesses that have been purchased by Ellgia Recycling in order to implement the customer-focused operational structure, technology and processes that are so critical to the firm’s continued success.
Steve started his working life at Biffa and moved to Shanks where he quickly worked his way up the ranks, founding his own company, Anglia Recycling in 2000.
Steve later sold the company to Viridor in 2007 before joining forces with Joe Rudd, sales director, to create Ellgia Recycling.
A self-confessed sports fanatic, Steve enjoys rugby and football and Ellgia Recycling is proud to be the sponsor and supporter of Royston Rugby Club and will be sponsoring the Steele Bodgers 2016 match.
Speaking alongside Steve will be Binal Cadieu, Signpost 2 Grow Project Manager with the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership.
Binal joined the LEP in June 2015 from Westminster City Council where she worked as a project manager of a £1.4m ERDF project around developing sustainable supply chains in Central London. She also co-managed an URBACT project, Sustainable Markets.
Binal brings with her a diverse range of experience in both the public and private sector, with a specialism in Economic Development including business support, inward investment and socio-economic analysis as well as managing European Projects particularly INTERREG and URBACT.
Binal has a BSc in Management Science from Loughborough University and a Professional Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute to Marketing (CIM). She is also a PRINCE2 qualified practitioner.
Both will be speaking at the 2016 Ely Standard East Cambridgeshire Business Awards networking event on Tuesday May 24 at The Maltings, Ship Lane in Ely.

Entries from companies wishing to be considered for an award must be submitted by July 21 2016. The hope is to see as many local businesses as possible get involved.
