Former nurse and midwife Doris Starling celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday (Wednesday).
Mrs Starling, who lives at The Old Vicarage nursing home in Littleport, was born in Norfolk and spent many years working in the London docks area as a midwife. She met her husband Frank, a local farmer, while working as a district nurse in Southery and they were married for 27 years until he died in 1969.
Mrs Starling was joined by nursing home staff, Julia Poor, left, and Lynne Dews to mark her birthday celebrations.
