ELY schoolboy George Eddy has designs on big business.
The former Ely Cathedral chorister has launched his own fashion company and today (Thursday) his website goes live - on his 18th birthday.
George has designed a polo shirt with a unique stand up collar under his own label, Gedy Clothing.
The King's School sixth former has financed his new venture with cash raised from his tuck shop, which sold snacks to fellow pupils, and his weekend job as a waiter.
George's polo shirts, available in deep red, sky blue and pale yellow, are manufactured from 100 per cent combed cotton with special stiff cotton in the collar which guarantees it will 'stay-up'.
Men's clothing shops in East Anglia are already stocking Gedy polo shirts but George expects the bulk of his business to come through the company's website www.gedyclothing.co.uk.
George sourced the material for the shirts himself and set up a manufacturing and import contract with a company in Thailand.
He has visited Thailand as a member of the King's Barbers, the close harmony group of ex-choristers whose concerts have raised thousands of pounds for a charity which funds girls through three years of high school education.
"Ten per cent of profits will go to the charity in Thailand," said George, who has three sisters. "The King's Barbers tours have supported over 250 girls and I'm working hard to make my business a success.
