The Stained Glass Museum in Ely has been awarded over £70,000 from the government’s Culture Recovery Fund.
A spokesperson for the museum said it was one of 1,385 “cultural and creative organisations” to receive support.
“We’ll be sharing more soon about the grant and the ways it will benefit the museum!” the spokesperson added.
The museum was founded in 1972 as a repository to rescue stained glass windows under threat from destruction. Many of the panels and windows in the collection were originally installed in Anglican churches which had been closed and made redundant. Some of these buildings were demolished and others were converted for alternative use. In several cases, significant stained glass windows were rescued.
Two years ago its patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, visited to celebrate its 40th anniversary of being open.
