ON Sunday, the Revd Matthew Bradbury was the celebrant at the 8am service of Holy Communion, and was assisted by Jacqui Talman. Canon Fiona Brampton led the All Age service at 11am. Seeds were planted on damp blotting paper then laid on a map of Wilburton and left to germinate.
At 6pm, there was a joint service for the licensing of Matthew Bradbury as assistant priest to the parishes of Holy Trinity, Haddenham, and St Peter's Church. It was good to be joined by some of the parishioners from Matthew's previous ministry in Sutton and by clergy from around the Deanery. Canon Fiona led the service. Archdeacon John Beer gave the sermon and, on behalf of the Bishop, officiated at licensing of Matthew after the vicar presented him to the Archdeacon. Matthew is a very welcome addition to our two parishes. After the service, everyone adjourned to the Meeting Room at Bakery Close for a bring-and-share meal, which was enjoyed by all.
On Sunday, St Peter's congregation will join Holy Trinity, Haddenhham, for the Palm Sunday service. At 10am there will be the blessing of the Palms and then a procession round the village, followed by a service of Holy Communion. On Monday, it is the start of the Welcome to Narnia Holiday Club at Haddenham, which will run until Saturday. On Tuesday, at 6.30pm there will be a Passover meal at Holy Trinity and every one is invited to bring some food to share and a contribution towards expenses. On Maundy Thursday at 7.30pm, in St Peter's, there will be a service of Holy Communion with the washing of feet, followed by a vigil until 10pm. On Good Friday, at St Peter's, there will be a service of Ante Communion at 11am and at 7.30pm a joint service with Holy Trinity. On Saturday, at Holy Trinity, Haddenham, from noon there will be an all age activity of three hours at the cross, followed at 3.30pm by The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. There will be a barbecue at 6pm and an Easter Eve service at 6.45pm.
# On April 1, our hard-working St Peter's events committee manned a cake stall on the Church Green for two hours and raised the princely sum of £235. Their prowess at cake making is now very well known and once again we thank them for their dedication and hard work.
