PUPILS at St Mary's School in Ely have been fund-raising to take lessons outside.
The youngsters organised a cake stall and made a CD of a residential trip, which they sold to parents, as well as receiving donations from Hennessey's Chip Shop and photographer Andrew Martin for the project.
They used the money to design and build a Viking ship big enough to hold an entire class. Year 4 students had been studying the Vikings and it is hoped one or two lessons will be taught in the ship. The ship is now a permanent part of the playground and other pupils can use it at play times.
