LAST Saturday evening, Bev Scott, John Heaps and Ian Wetherall prepared and cooked a delicious three-course Valentine's dinner for the ladies. This was a first for St John's, organised by Bev Scott, additional waiters were Tony Murfit and Arthur Sole. All the ladies were given a red rose and heart-shaped chocolates. On behalf of the ladies, Jean Murfitt gave a vote of thanks for all the hard work that had gone into organising the event. During the evening, Simon and Anna Wynn organised a Mr and Mrs competition, won by Bev and Sue Scott. Keith Penn led last Sunday morning's service at 10.45am. Pam Sole, Chris Hunt and Gladys Rose read the lessons and Janice Weatherall was the organist. The Rev Steve Watts led the evening service, which included the celebration of Holy Communion. Pat Hodson was the pianist. The Women's Fellowship met on Tuesday afternoon. On Sunday, the Rev Roger Steward will lead the morning service at 10.45am. The evening service will be a celebration service with St Leonard's Church in Little Downham at 6.30pm. The Flower and Friendship will meet on Monday, February 26 in the schoolroom at 7.30pm.
