THE ghost of Oliver Cromwell was out and about in Ely last Thursday as part of event designed to get children into the Halloween spirit.
Youngsters enjoyed a spooky treasure hunt around Cromwell's former home on St Mary's Street and then followed a route around the city, learning about its history by torchlight as they went.
Tracy Harding, tourism team leader for East Cambridgeshire District Council who helped to organise the event, said: "As the night gets longer, the streets of Ely get that little bit more spooky as shadows lengthen and a chill takes to the air. What better time could there be than to take part in a ghostly treasure hunt?
