Police say they have experienced an increase in thefts of pedal cycles from the Littleport area.

It comes after two cycles/frames were recovered from the village yesterday (August 7) from Littleport. They are currently with officers at Ely police station.

“Suspects have been interviewed and charged recently with such offences and we are monitoring the area closely for on going issues,” said a spokesman.

“These two cycles/frames have appeared recently - dumped in the ditch behind the skate park. The first is dark grey ‘British Eagle’ cycle - it has Shimano hardware, the seat is missing, and has been badly abused with twisted handlebars and buckled wheels.

“It is relatively rust free, suggesting it has been abandoned recently. It is not difficult to imagine that recently this was a well presented and functional pedal cycle. There is a strong likelihood that it has been stolen. Do you recognise this cycle? Is it yours?

“The second is a frame - an Apollo in silver with a blue livery to the front. This cycle has been stripped down completely. Wheels are missing front and back, handlebars handle bars remain but the seat has been removed.

“Again with Shimano hardware - the cycle is also relatively rust free and has not been abandoned for long. Perhaps you know who this frame belongs to or can help us identify where, when and how it was stolen?”

“If you can help our enquiries, call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
